The difference a few days make.

April 21

The season commences with a plate full of fist sized morel mushrooms. Varieties: black and white.

April 22

Next day's yield overflows the plate.

In three hundred years, visitors to this planet will make customs declarations to take home a small handful of morels. The word "Earth" will then be just a brand name for a particular type of mushroom that once grew here. Kazzillionaires and Prime Ministers will eat a few shreds in their fine dinner sauces. And to think that for a few days each spring, these things just pop out of the sides of Sweet Gum Hill. Imagine the wealth!

As the black varieties slow down the large white version really takes off.

By April 28, the denomination is by the basket.

May 1st, Sandy's stroll through the woods yields a season's worth in one hour.
