River Fishing The Blue Juniata

We decided to try our luck on the Frankstown Branch, a feeder stream into the  "Blue Juniata" River.

October felt like early August, but the leaves were just beginning to change.

Our plan was to paddle the sixteen miles from Canoe Creek to Alexandria. Everything went according to plan. Everything except that the fishing was so good I forgot to make much forward progress.

We drifted and fished and fished and drifted.  Then it started to get dark.

We got to our planned destination at 11pm.  The last few miles, paddling through the dark into slides and rapids may not have been much fun; but in retrospect, with the river behind us now we can say we had an adventure.
